“How to make my own website…” – If you were to search for that exact term in Google, you’d get over five hundred million results. Therein lies the problem; if YOU want to make your own website you’ll get lots of information that will not only be unhelpful but will probably be so technical you will end up frustrated and worse off than when you just started.
DON’T be discouraged as a newbie can do this if you just know where to start!
First of all let me say that it is impossible to give you all the information to make your own website in this one article but we can at least cover the basics to get you started.
Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) is a term that I came across a lot when I was researching how to make my own website, and frankly it was a little scary at first.
This is basically what web browsers like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox read when they see a website. They then convert it to a format that is more “friendly” to us humans.
Don’t panic, you won’t have to learn this language to create a website as there are programs called HTML Web Editors that take care of all that ‘techie’ stuff for you.
Search for one that uses a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) system which allows you to input text, images, audio etc into your webpage while it creates the HTML codes for you. I personally use one called Kompozer which is user friendly and free of charge.
I also recommend you download some free HTML web templates and spend some time experimenting with your web editor (don’t worry you can’t break anything and it’s a lot of fun).
Ensure you search for HTML templates as there are other types such as PHP which is for more experienced webmasters. Using the templates will greatly improve your learning curve and keep you motivated.
Once you are happy with your website design you can think about purchasing a domain name (your website address) and get a Hosting Account to put your site online.
Now you can stop asking how to make my own website and actually do it. You can get a free expert guide on how to put the whole thing together by clicking HERE
